The Northeast (Ishanya) is the most sacred direction in Vastu. Keep this area clutter-free, well-lit, and preferably open. Place a water feature or indoor plants here.
2. Position Your Main Entrance Correctly
The main entrance should face North, East, or Northeast. Ensure the door opens inward and is well-lit. Avoid obstacles in front of the door.
3. Master Bedroom in the Southwest
The Southwest provides stability and grounding. Sleep with head pointing South or East. Use earthy tones like cream, beige, or light pink.
4. Kitchen in the Southeast
The kitchen represents the fire element and should be in the Southeast. Face East while cooking. Never place the kitchen in the Northeast.
5. Remove Clutter Regularly
Clutter blocks positive energy (prana) and creates stagnation. Regularly declutter especially the Northeast areas, under beds, and behind doors.
6. Proper Placement of Mirrors
Place mirrors on North or East walls to attract prosperity. Never place mirrors in the bedroom facing the bed or reflecting the main door.
7. Indoor Plants for Fresh Energy
Place Tulsi in the Northeast, Money Plant in the Southeast, and Bamboo in the East. Best plants: Money Plant, Peace Lily, Snake Plant, and Jade Plant.
8. Correct Bathroom Placement
Bathrooms should be in the Northwest or West. Keep toilet lids closed and bathroom doors shut to prevent energy drain.
9. Create a Positive Study or Work Area
Face East or North while working or studying for better concentration. Place a Saraswati idol or pyramid for improved focus.
10. Use Colors According to Directions
- North: Green, blue
- East: White, light blue
- South: Red, orange
- West: White, gray
- Northeast: Light yellow, cream
- Southeast: Red, pink, orange
- Southwest: Brown, beige
- Northwest: White, cream
